Care and warranty

Warranty

When manufacturing our furniture, we strictly withstand the technological process from the preparation of raw materials to coating and packaging. Nevertheless, sometimes there may be some defects that can manifest themselves over time. Therefore, in such a case, we provide a guarantee for our products.

Smereka Warranty

General Provisions

Smereka provides a warranty for furniture of its own production for a period of 36 months from the date of sale, provided that the rules of use and care are observed.

Warranty conditions

Year 1 from the date of sale

  • Full warranty covering manufacturing defects.
  • Repair or replacement of defective parts — at Smereka’s expense.
  • Transportation of the product to/from the production facility — at Smereka’s expense.

Years 2-3 from the date of sale

  • The warranty applies only to structural and serious manufacturing defects that:
  • make normal use of the product impossible;
  • cannot be eliminated without production facilities.
  • Repair — at Smereka’s expense
  • Transportation of the product to/from the production facility — at the customer’s expense

What Is Considered a Warranty Case

  • Delamination, ungluing, or destruction of load-bearing elements caused by poor workmanship or violation of production technology;
  • Structural defects affecting stability or safe use;
  • Confirmed manufacturing errors in assembly or finishing.

The final decision on whether a case is considered a warranty claim is made by the manufacturer after inspection of the product or based on photo/video materials.

What Is Not Covered by the Warranty

The warranty does not cover:

  • natural changes in wood (shade, texture, grain pattern);
  • minor micro-cracks caused by the natural properties of solid wood;
  • slight tactile differences between the slats of the countertops, which are a consequence of the natural properties of wood and changes in environmental conditions;
  • deformations or cracking caused by violation of temperature and humidity conditions;
  • wear or damage to the finishing coating during use;
  • mechanical damage, impacts, scratches;
  • improper care or use not intended for the product;
  • self-repair or third-party intervention without approval from the manufacturer.

Important

  • Product color displayed on screens may differ from the actual color.
  • For certain finishes and wood species, natural color variations between elements are acceptable and are not considered a warranty case.
  • Care recommendations are an integral part of the warranty conditions.

Contacts

In the event of a warranty claim, please contact Smereka Support, providing a description of the issue along with photo or video materials.

Short “Ideal Everyday Scenario”

A heated residential space with a stable temperature of 20–22 °C, without sudden fluctuations, with moderate humidity (even slightly drier than ideal), no direct heat exposure, and no prolonged contact with water. Under these conditions, solid wood furniture performs reliably for many years without issues.

6 Key Rules for Using Solid Wood Furniture

1. Stable temperature is more important than “ideal” conditions

  • Recommended range: 18–24 °C
  • Acceptable fluctuations: ±2–3 °C within 24 hours
  • ✔️ Slightly dry air is acceptable if the temperature is stable.
  • ❌ Not acceptable: sudden heating or cooling (e.g. leaving the house, turning off heating, then rapidly reheating).

2. Moderate humidity, without extremes

  • Comfortable range: 35–55%
  • ✔️ No humidifier is not a problem if there are no sharp changes
  • ❌ Bad: constantly >60% or <30%, especially with fluctuations.

3. No direct heat and constant sun

  • Distance from radiators, fireplaces: at least 50–70 cm.
  • Sunlight is acceptable, but not constant direct sunlight.
  • ✔️ Bright room - ok.
  • ❌ Bad: constant “burning” on one side.

4. Water - clean up immediately

  • A damp cloth is fine.
  • Standing water - no.
  • ✔️ Wiped right away - no problems.
  • ❌ Bad: water remaining on the surface or leaking into the joints.

5. Intended use

  • Load is within the design limits.
  • No sitting, standing, or overloading.
  • ✔️ Everyday use - ok.
  • ❌ Bad: “nothing will happen” → then a breakdown.

6. Gentle care

  • Dry or slightly damp cloth.
  • The products are for wooden surfaces only.
  • ✔️ Minimal care is sufficient.
  • ❌ Bad: household chemicals, alcohol, abrasives.

Furniture care

Wooden surfaces treated with oil-wax are wear-resistant and can withstand wet care without the use of aggressive products. Also, the use of abrasives such as Scotch-Brite (the hard side of a kitchen sponge) and the like is prohibited.

A simple way of effective care is a damp, soft cloth, and you don't need to put in too much effort. Just wipe gently.

Even better, for the care of wooden furniture, it is recommended to use special products that do not contain acids, alkalis and other aggressive substances (for example, the cleaning and care product for wooden furniture Glutoclean, Osmo SPRAY CLEANER and the like). They remove dirt, stains from coloring products and drinks, but do not wash the oils from the wood and do not destroy the protective wax coating.

Surfaces treated with oil-wax are easy to renew. If the coating has lost its luster and saturated tone, has become matte, worn and dry, it is enough to apply one new layer without removing and re-sanding the previous one.

You can buy care products from us together with the product, or separately where it is convenient for you.

Additional tips:

  • Use furniture only for its primary purpose.
  • Use the furniture in rooms with a temperature not lower than 10 degrees Celsius with a relative humidity of 40-70%.
  • Furniture that is not intended for outdoor use should not be used outdoors.
  • The surface of the furniture should be kept dry. In case of moisture, fat, wine, coffee or other active substances, wipe the surface with a moisture-absorbing napkin or rag. Soap solutions can be used for cleaning. Cleaning should be carried out immediately without leaving dirt on the products for a long time. It is not necessary to make excessive efforts, just wipe gently.
  • It is categorically impossible to use any abrasive means for cleaning the surface, such as: the back side of sponges for washing dishes, abrasive paper, powders, etc. Such products remove the protective layer of oil on the surface and lead to the appearance of stains at the place of application.
  • Aggressive substances that get on the furniture can spoil it. It is also not desirable to get in contact with the oil for a long time.
  • Do not expose the furniture to heated objects with a temperature higher than 80 degrees Celsius, such as frying pans, irons and other hot household objects.
  • Do not place the furniture under the influence of active solar radiation. The sun's rays lead to "burning" of the color and overheating of the tree, especially in summer. If your furniture is used in such conditions, you need to treat it with oil and wax more often.
  • The tree reacts poorly to fluctuations in temperature and humidity in a wide range. Do not place furniture in close proximity to batteries or other heat sources. It is especially harmful to place batteries directly under countertops and other wooden surfaces. This leads to drying out of the wood and cracking.
  • When using active coloring agents, such as markers, pens, felt-tip pens, paints, the surface should be protected. Remember: inks and paints are not removed by ordinary detergents from the surface. Furniture will need restoration.
